The Winter Solstice is a time to honor the darkness of the year. It is a time of rest and a time of dreaming. It is a time of going within and deep healing. The Solstice is a turning point, for in the darkest night the sun turns from going away to coming back to the earth. In the ritual we will look into the deep darkness of night and we will also create and welcome the new light that we will want to shine on us this new year.

People who follow the ways of the Wild,

Who live with the Earth,

Whose rituals are pleasure and mirth,

Who know that in death there is birth,

Come to the sacred celebration faery elder and child!

Celebrate with us the darkest night of the year!

The sun has retreated and mother earth has gone within,

Dreaming in the dark of the wonderful things that will begin.

Come with us into the darkness, held in the arms of your faery kin.

For in the deepness of the dark, your soul you will hear.

Come and dream with the Earth in a blanket of stars.

For only by going into night,

Can we go within and bring a new dawn to light.

Giving us the strength to love and make right,

To create a new world and break old bars.

And we will bring forth from night the inner child of light

Bringing forth light from deep in our soul,

To carry it out into the world, making it whole.

And with our warmth we will heat all the hearts that are cold

And grow with the growing Sun strong and bright!
